Later this afternoon, The News-Enterprise website will transition to a cleaner, more responsive design to be compatible with all browser software and your favorite device for browsing the internet.
The newspaper staff, including corporate and local information technology employees, have been working for months to initiate the launch. It is being conducted in association with TownNews, the industry's leading provider of internet solutions for the newspaper industry.
The web address will remain www.thenewsenterprise.com. Customers are encouraged to create a bookmark or other shortcut for their desktop, laptop, tablet or smartphone after the revised pages go live.
"We feel confident the changes being implemented will provide a better user experience," said Chris Ordway, publisher of The News-Enterprise. "Our newspaper's online component will now be responsive, making it easier for online users to find the latest local and area news and information on your screen of choice, whether that's a desktop, tablet or smartphone."
The new site offers additional technical capabilities for multimedia and interactive features. The newspaper's Facebook and Twitter feeds will be available directly from the site. Another improvement is easy-to-find links for questions about news coverage, delivery issues or advertising inquiries. The site also provides a home-page link to localized television listings.
Full archives from the previous website are available with a more user-friendly formula that should provide more ideal responses to your queries.
The website offers more innovative ad positions throughout the site for advertisers to use. The Marketplace feature, which provides access to print advertisements and customer links, also remains a prominent part of the home page.
The on-going association with TownNews is expected to keep the local website up to date with revisions, changes and technological improvements.
"TownNews has been and continues to be an innovator. Typically, sites they manage are among the first to offer new tools and upgrades," Ordway said. "We believe our partnership with TownNews will be an on-going benefit for our customers."
