This weekend, web and software developers will hack several Roanoke-based organizations, but not in the bad way.
These developers have been working with nonprofits for the last several months. From 5 p.m. Friday to 5 p.m. Saturday nonstop, they'll come together to work on websites, build apps or improve these business' online and mobile presence.
Organizer David Epperly says to his knowledge, this is the first "hack-a-thon" of its kind in the Roanoke area.
The event is at the Grandin CoLab, and is free and open to any web developers who want to contribute.
The City of Roanoke, Roanoke Public Libraries and Roanoke Outside are just a few of the organizations that will benefit from this hack-a-thon.
Kids also have the chance to explore the world of web development. At 11 a.m. Saturday, kids can come to the CoLab for free to learn the basics of web design and also see what future career opportunities they can pursue.
