CrowdReviews.com Reveals Tips for Selecting Web Design Companies

February 09, 2016 --

SANTA FE, NM--(Marketwired - February 09, 2016) - CrowdReviews.com, a platform for reviewing and ranking design and development companies, has released a guide assisting those in search of web design services. The tips outline key strategies businesses can use to identify web design companies most likely to design a website which meets their needs and objectives. While the tips are not a guaranteed guideline for selecting the right web design company, the tips can help reduce the risk of selecting a web design firm which doesn't consistently meet their customer requirements.

First, CrowdReviews.com recommends that buyers consider web design companies which have in-depth reviews written about their work online. As the Internet has become a primary source for researching vendors, it has also become an opportunity for vendors to create reviews which may be biased towards the side of the provider. It is recommended for buyers to not only try to identify reviews which may be critical of web design companies, but to utilize multiple reviews and review sources. Many web design companies will offer testimonials and examples on their own website; CrowdReviews.com houses reviews written by actual customers of web design services.

Second, it is recommended for buyers to find vendors which have experience in designing websites similarly to what they are expecting. Many web design companies feature examples of their design work on their own website or have links to websites they have completed design work on. It can be beneficial to not only review past designs completed, but to connect with the customers to confirm the work was completed by the design firm and to obtain additional testimonial towards the credentials of the web design firm.

Moving Your Career Beyond Web Designer

Graphic design and web developer

Web designers must possess a wide variety of technical and design skills, and they are usually good at juggling many things at once. But while web designers have been designing websites for a couple of decades now, the industry as a whole is moving towards something new. It is becoming standardized and commoditized. The design in "Web design" is starting to be of less importance.

One of the primary reasons we are at this point is because it has become extremely easy to design a website today using templates or intuitive CMS systems such as WordPress.

As a web designer, you might be wondering whether yours is a dying profession, and if you should seek to go beyond your web design skills.

Is Web Design a Dying Profession?

The question I hear often these days is whether or not web design is a dying profession. Many types of professions have come and gone in the past, so is the same thing bound to happen with web design?

This question is on many people's minds because, not only is there a lot of competition from DIY web design software, the web design field is also extremely oversaturated. There are so-called web designers working from every part of the world these days.

However, the short answer to this very complex question is most likely no.

Quality Is Still Hard to Find

Although there are web designers everywhere, quality web design is still hard to come by. If you've tried finding a qualified web designer before, you know that it is no easy task.

You can find hundreds of web designers but most will not be at the top of the field. That is because the great web designers are already hired. Great web designers don't usually need a job and often have several opportunities lined up waiting for them. But how do you become a great web designer?

Improving Your Skills

Constantly improving your skills is important to any career. Becoming good at something is much different than mastering something.  Many people can be good web designers, but only a few can be great.

The difference between the two is that one merely does it for the money while the other is obsessed with the field.

If you are not a master yet, but feel a very strong desire to get there, then you're already ahead of most other people. If you're passionate about learning new things in web design and someone who reads Stack Overflow daily, then you're on the right path.

Expanding Your Skills

If you're a great web designer, you might be secure in your career for a while. Because you are a rare breed, you cannot easily be replaced by another person or software. However, it's only a matter of time until you have more competition.

That is why you need to constantly be in the process of expanding your skills. You have to move beyond web designer in order to secure your future. HTML, CSS, and Photoshop will only take you so far for so long.

The most useful skills to attain next would be JavaScript and jQuery so that you can solidify your frontend web development skill set.

If you're already amazing at JavaScript, then it is time to take a leap and jump into the world of backend development such as PHP or Ruby. Although frontend development faces increasing competition from oversaturation and DIY software, the field of backend development is nowhere close to that. Because this field is much more complex and unique, your skills should be in demand for a longer period of time.

Future of Web Design

As I mentioned before, the web design field is so standardized today that is is simple for just about anyone to buy a high-quality theme and install it on a WordPress website. With the availability of many page builder and customization plugins, you can put together a great-looking website without spending much money.

Although automation can never truly replace quality web design, it can lower the number of opportunities for those that provide that quality manual labor.

Not everyone wants or needs the highest-quality website with clean code that can be read and understood by 99% of other web designers. Most small business owners just want to have a web presence, which can be achieved without the need for a web designer.

If you expand your skills beyond the basics of HTML, CSS, and Photoshop, you are more likely to be able to provide things that automation cannot. Even simple scripts that do routine and basic functions can be much more useful than what automation software provides.

Transitioning into Entrepreneurship

When you are at a point where you master frontend development and become really strong at backend development, the next logical step is entrepreneurship. By the time you reach this elite level in the field, you should have no problem landing numerous clients and making a good living working for yourself.

With the right skills in your toolbelt, you can essentially do whatever you want—because you can do it all yourself.

Calgary Web Design Company Red Cherry Discusses Web Design Trends to Keep an Eye on in 2016

Calgary, AB -- (SBWIRE) -- 02/05/2016 -- Red Cherry is a Digital Agency based in Calgary Alberta Canada. Last year not a lot changed in the world of web design and most new websites adopted the more minimalist approach that has been in favor in recent years. But developments behind the scenes have been inexorably racing forwards and many of the most popular web frameworks have continued to evolve. So how will the latest changes affect you and what can you expect if you are planning to build or revamp a website for your business?

CSS3 Has Arrived2016 is the year where some CSS3 layout modules can now safely be used in popular browsers. To the uninitiated, this means that layouts won't look hugely different, but the underlying code will be more reliable and a lot simpler (if you decide to start editing your code).

Animations GaloreAnimations are nothing new, but expect to see a lot more animation techniques used in web design over the coming year. Larger animations such as pop-ups are big impact whereas smaller animations don't require much in the way of user input. All can be effective and highly entertaining in small doses, but don't overdo it or your site visitors will be turned off in a big way.

Hamburger MenusIt is becoming increasingly commonplace to view web content on mobile devices. Because of this trend, many web designers have started creating 'hamburger' menus, so navigation is hidden from view until expanded. This creates a cleaner, more aesthetically appealing site, but it isn't the right move for all websites. For one thing users might not discover vast swathes of your website, and for another, users are more likely to give up if navigation pathways are not obvious.

Bring Photos to Life with CinemagraphsYou may already be familiar with cinemagraphs – they have been around for a while now – but with the advent of 'live photos' on newer iPhones, advertisers and content producers are waking up to how popular a small amou nt of movement within a static image can be. And with the underlying technology much improved, it is now very easy to produce your own cinemagraphs.

Big, Bold and Beautiful FontsUp to now, website designers have mostly stuck to safe fonts, in a boring black, but bold web fonts are now a lot more accessible. There is nothing wrong with plain and boring if you are building a corporate website, but for everyone else, expect to see an explosion of large, colourful fonts in 2016, which should change the way we view text online.

App Overload: It's truly awesome that site owners can integrate 3rd-party tools and apps to their sites, but surely there is a limit. It's tempting to add more functionalities, true, but remember that these tools were all designed separately by completely different people. They often have totally different styles, and, especially if we add multiple apps per page, an aesthetic conflict is inevitable.

Google Deep Dream: The creepy psychedelic unive rse that Google unleashed is inspiring people to create scary things. For now, it's only our social feeds that are filled with bizarre images of dogs, eyes and limbs, but we fear that soon enough we will start seeing these twisted visuals on websites as well.

It's one-stop shopping for everything related to our site. Design, development, maintenance, security updates — even website updates if we don't have designated in-house marketing capabilities. Invictus Local also includes Search Engine Optimization (SEO) to ensure our business can be found on more search sites, mobile services, and social networks.
